FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME IN OPHTHALMOLOGY FOR EXTERNAL CANDIDATES 18-Month long term Fellowship Programme:
Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital offers 18-month Fellowship in Comea and Anterior Segment, Vitreo Retina, Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, Glaucoma and Oculoplasty subspecialty. The next programme will start on 1st July, 2024. Details of the fellowship programme structure can be found at: http://www.islamia.org.bd/courses-training-program/
Academic and Professional Qualification: (1) Candidates who have an M.S./F.C.P.S./ any equivalent degree in Ophthalmology recognized by BMDC, they should have at least one-year clinical experience after post-graduation (2) Candidates who have DO or equivalent degree, preferably they should have at least two-years clinical experience after post-graduation.
Other Requirements: (1) Age of the candidate should not exceed 45 years at the beginning of fellowship. (2) Those who are currently in service should apply through proper channel. (3) Both private and Government candidates are eligible to apply.
Honorarium/Stipend: There is a provision of stipend/honorarium in each month for local candidates if they do not receive salary/stipend from their employer and/or any other agency during the training period.
Private practice during all fellowship training programmes is strictly prohibited. ⚫ 3-Month Short term Fellowship (Observership):
Subject to slot availability, this programme is available round the year in the Vitreo Retina, Cornea & Anterior Segment, Oculoplasty, Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus and Neuro- ophthalmology sub-specialties. Age bar is not applicable for short term fellowship programme.
Applications for both long term and short term fellowship should be submitted on the prescribed form (http://www.islamia.org.bd/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Fellowship-Application-Form.pdf) on or before 15th May, 2024 by up to 3:00pm. Examination fees of Tk. 4,000.00 (Four Thousand) (non-refundable) has to be given as pay order/bank draft in favour of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital at the time of form submission which is applicable for long term fellowship candidates only. Only short listed candidates will be called for written test and interview. Candidates will be selected on a competitive basis on the results of written tests and an interview to be held on 21st May, 2024. You may contact Education Department for further queries.
