JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the quality seed production adheres to a defined set of quality criteria to meet the requirements the client or customer. To help & to ensure remedial efforts (if required) and to immediately detect recurrences or new instances of trouble.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitoring the contract farmers' selection with suitable land for seed production (rice, vegetable, maize and potato) and observing the land and seed bed (rice and vegetable) preparation, for example the application of fertilizer, timely seed sowing, water, disease and overall crop management, haulm pulling & rouging.
• In case of hybrid rice seed production, observe and maintain the A-line and R-line (number of hill/unit area, row ratio, distance, tiller number/hill) correctly during seedling plantation.
• Regular and organized block and plot supervision during and after seed sowing. Performing the off-types and weeding, rouging non-crossed and undesirable fruits. • Close supervision of disease management; checking the scheduled spray of pesticides and water management.
• Close supervision during breeding period for crossing, bagging, and pollination. • Close and careful supervision during ingathering of seeds after harvesting from field; mature fruit or grain collection, seed sample collection, seed admixture checking for varietal purity, sorting of different colour, shape and size fruits, germination rate, moisture content, curing and sorting & grading.
• Checking of potato seed quality, preserved in cold storage, along with the checking of the condition cold storage; temperature, humidity, stacking of sack, deloting. • Active engagement in GOT of different seed (rice, vegetable, potato, maize) which includes land selection & preparation, material purchase, plantation, irrigation, fertilization, crop protection, data collection, harvesting, by product sales, etc.
SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Identification of good quality seed, weed and pests' identification, disease identification and suppression techniques. In case of hybrid seed production, must be known identifying characters of male and female parents.
Rice, vegetable, maize and potato seed production knowledge. Sowing period, land and seed bed preparation, fertilizer and pesticides use, water management, weed management, pests and disease management & rouging.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidates must have Diploma in Agriculture will be given preference with minimum CGPA 2.50 or 2nd division/ class or equivalent result in all academic examinations www.prebd.com
